HJ Lea Oakes are proud suppliers of Organic feed to Kelvin and Liz Fletcher, of Fletchers on the Farm.
Now in its second series, the popular Fletchers on the Farm TV show aims to show the public real life, day-to-day farming.
Known best for being an actor, Kelvin Fletcher played the popular character of Andy Sugden in Emmerdale for over 20 years. Since leaving Emmerdale in 2016 Kelvin has pursued many other opportunities such as TV dramas and performing at the National Theatre. Not forgetting famously lifting the glitterball as the 2019 Strictly Come Dancing Champion with partner Oti Mabuse.
Kelvin and Liz took on the 120-acre farm in the Peak District national park in 2021 and now combine farming with raising their four young children – Marnie, Milo and twins Mateusz and Maximus.
“We have fallen in love with farming and now can’t imagine life not living in the countryside or being close to nature. It’s been an extremely busy few years juggling our careers and raising our young family. We’ve gone from 1 lockdown puppy and two small children, to over 100 sheep, a woodland of rare breed pigs, a small herd of cattle, alpacas, a busy livery yard and twin boys. Along the way we’ve had ups and downs, wins and losses and laughs and the odd tear but what an adventure and it’s only just begun.”
HJ Lea Oakes are currently supplying Organic Sow & Weaner Nuts to Fletchers Farm. Kelvin wanted to produce local sustainable pork from his Oxford Sandy and Black pigs. He believes sourcing feed for his livestock that is organically produced and manufactured locally will go some way in producing food that is not only nutritious and delicious but also has minimal environmental impact.
